I bought the Koala for a Boy Scout canoe trip down the Brazos. It allowed me to keep track of my phone the entire time and I never worried it it fell out of my pocket because when it did fall out it never hit the canoe bottoms or the water.
I did use a carabiner to attach to the life jacket, but on shore the clip worked great on my shirt.
